Refund policy
Little Years is a trading name of Alan Barbero, a sole trader based at 15/18 Northfield Drive, Edinburgh EH8 7RP, United Kingdom. For customer questions, cancellations, returns and refunds, use our Contact form. We are not VAT registered, so no UK VAT is charged on our prices.
Nothing in this policy affects your legal rights. If you live outside the United Kingdom, you may also have rights under the law of your country of residence.
1. Changing your mind
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you can cancel your order for any reason, without giving us a reason, up to 14 days after the day you receive your goods. This is your right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (and equivalent distance-selling rules in the EEA), and it applies to every item we sell, including sale items and items bought with a discount code.
If you are ordering from a country we ship to outside the UK and EEA, we offer the same 14-day change-of-mind as a shop policy, on the same terms below, unless the item is one you cannot cancel (see section 3).
To cancel, send us a message through our Contact form with your order number and tell us you are cancelling. You do not have to give a reason. You can use this wording if you prefer:
I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract of sale for the following goods: [item(s)], ordered on [date], received on [date]. Name: [your name]. Address: [your address]. Date: [today's date].
Once you have told us you are cancelling, send the goods back to us within 14 days.
Return postage
You pay the cost of returning the goods to us when you are cancelling because you changed your mind. We recommend using a tracked service, because the goods remain your responsibility until they reach us.

United Kingdom
Please message us through the Contact form before sending anything back, so we know to expect it.
If you are returning from outside the United Kingdom, international postage can cost more than the item is worth. Contact us before you pay for postage — we may simply refund you and tell you not to send it back.
For some low-value items, return postage (including from within the UK) costs more than the item is worth. If that is the case we may simply refund you and tell you not to send it back. Contact us before paying for postage and we will let you know.
Condition of returned goods
You are welcome to examine the goods as you would in a shop. If you handle them beyond what is necessary to do that and their value is reduced as a result, we may deduct that reduction from your refund.
Your refund
We refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or within 14 days of you giving us proof that you have sent them, whichever is earlier. Refunds go to the original payment method.
Your refund includes the standard delivery charge you paid on the original order. If you chose a more expensive delivery option, we refund the standard rate rather than the upgrade.
2. Faulty, damaged or wrong items
This is different from changing your mind, and we pay the return postage.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if an item is faulty, damaged, or not as described:
- Within 30 days of delivery — you can reject it and get a full refund.
- After 30 days and within 6 months — we will repair or replace it. If that is not possible or does not fix the problem, you can have a refund.
If you live outside the UK, you still have rights if goods are faulty, damaged or not as described. Contact us and we will repair, replace or refund as appropriate. We pay the return postage for faulty, damaged or wrong items.
Please check your order when it arrives and use our Contact form as soon as you spot a problem. Photographs help us sort it out quickly and usually mean you do not need to send the item back at all.
3. Items you cannot cancel
The 14-day cancellation right does not apply to:
- Items made to your specification or personalised for you.
- Sealed items that are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons, once the seal has been broken.
- Items that deteriorate or expire rapidly.
Where an item falls into one of these categories, we say so clearly on the product page before you buy. This does not affect your rights if the item turns out to be faulty or not as described.
4. If your order does not arrive
If we have not delivered your order within 30 days of you placing it, you can cancel and get a full refund. Some of our items are dispatched by our suppliers, including suppliers outside the United Kingdom — see our Shipping Policy for what that means for delivery times.
5. Complaints
Use our Contact form and we aim to reply within two working days. We are a small business and we would much rather fix a problem than argue about it.
If we cannot resolve your complaint between us, we are not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, so you would need to take the matter to court. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes may be brought in the Scottish courts. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you can bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live outside the United Kingdom, this does not take away any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
